Welcome to Cambridge Prep!

Dear Provspective Students and Families,

I would like to take the opportunity to welcome you to our community and look forward to making your acquaintance and working with you closely throughout the admission process.

College preparation and English language education are central concepts in Cambridge Prep's mission since its founding. We have maintained a 100% success rate for placing students in U.S. colleges and universities with many students accepted into top-100 ranked schools. Our on-site, full-time college counselor aids in the management of applications and timelines to maintain an accurate and successful college application process.

Cambridge Prep currently accepts students into grades 7 through 12. Grade 7 and grade 8 students who seek to increase their academic preparedness and English language skills for use in our high school may be offered a position in our "prep" year(s).

For the domestic student, the Cambridge Prep program seeks to set a wide range of classes offering a course of study through English, mathematics, fine arts, and the sciences. The program aims to increasingly challenge the student personally and academically, while encouraging a global education within our international community.

For the international student, Cambridge Prep has a strong program to support and facilitate English language learning. The course of study moves through 4 levels of coursework, each focusing on various aspects of English language proficiency. The program begins with immersion level classes which focus on English vocabulary and grammar, emphasizing reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills. It then progresses through sheltered level which teaches the intermediate English student mainstream level content in a classroom setting that provides scaffolding in vocabulary. During this year, students take 1-2 additional English support classes to build fluency. Mainstream with support coursework is aimed for the essentially English fluent student to receive an extra English class while taking mainstream classes. Mainstream level coursework is designed for the student who is fluent in English.

In addition, Cambridge Prep offers 18 honors level courses and 20 Advanced Placement (AP) courses taught by our faculty in a live class atmosphere. Our highly qualified instructors and small class sizes, which average 7.2 students per classroom, provide the ideal learning environment.

An opportunity to live on-campus in our newly renovated Cambridge Hall dormitory presents a unique way for students to experience the internationally diverse city of San Francisco. Just minutes from downtown San Francisco and Silicon Valley, Cambridge Hall provides accessibility to University of California, Berkeley and Stanford University, as well as the main Google, Apple, and Facebook campuses. Yosemite National Park, Lake Tahoe, and Disneyland are all within several hours by car.

Cambridge Prep's sports program helps both boys' and girls' sports teams function to develop teamwork, leadership, and self-discipline, while our theatre program fosters self-confidence, self -expression, and language communication skills. These characteristics aid in the growth of the individual student on both a personal and an academic level.

Further, I am delighted to announce a number of upcoming enhancements that we have been working hard to implement over the summer. These improvements come to strengthen our academic programs, construction projects and building maintenance, social enrichment programs, and dormitory life for this coming year. We will be providing a detailed account of all upgrades shortly.

In the meantime, please contact our admission office for more information or to answer any questions you might have, and schedule a visit to tour our campus.

We are looking forward to a productive and successful school year and we encourage all students who are interested in attending Cambridge Prep to apply. If you have any further questions please contact me if I can be of any further assistance. I look forward to our future conversations!
